Preview onlyRetail Management Accounts & KPI Pack
A monthly executive pack that links store, format and region performance to group profit, cash flow and working capital.
Business challenge
Executive management needed one consistent monthly view showing which regions, formats and stores were losing money, and how trading performance was feeding through to cash, leverage and debt capacity.
Outcome
Management sees in one document which formats, cost lines and stores drive the variance to budget, and how trading affects free cash flow, gearing and remaining debt capacity.
Overview
A 19-page monthly reporting pack for a multi-format food retailer with 377 stores in three regions and three store formats. It opens with a year-to-date dashboard and KPI scorecard, then covers regional and consolidated P&L against budget and last year, like-for-like sales, customer count and basket size, supply chain and distribution centre costs, department margins, rebates, other income, stock loss and stock days, the top and bottom ten stores, and finally the balance sheet, cash flow and working capital. How to read it: start with page 2, the year-to-date dashboard, then the KPI scorecard on page 3. Pages 4 and 5 compare regional and consolidated P&L with budget and last year; pages 6 to 10 cover customer count, basket size, sales by format and supply chain cost. Pages 11 to 15 break sales and margin, rebates, other income, stock loss and stock days down by department. Pages 16 and 17 rank the top and bottom ten stores; pages 18 and 19 close with the balance sheet, cash flow and working capital.
Approach
Regional P&Ls share one layout and consolidate by formula, so every month-to-date and year-to-date line reconciles to the group. Format-level views repeat the same structure for labour, operating cost, rebates, waste, stock loss and stock days. Like-for-like bridges, store rankings and a defined KPI scorecard turn the numbers into actions.
